Football Program Cover Art, 1894-1895

The earliest game program in the Bentley's collection is from the 1894 Cornell game played on the grounds of the Detroit Athletic Club. Printed privately by William Graham of Detroit, it includes little more than a roster, scorecard, some advertising and lyrics to a song written especially for the game. 1894 Cornell program
The "souvenir scorecards" for the 1895 Minnesota game played at the Detroit baseball park and for the Harvard game in Cambridge are a bit more elaborate and include photos of the teams.

At least one earlier program is known to exist in a private collection. It is a one-page flyer produced for the 1888 Notre Dame game in South Bend listing the team rosters and rules of the game.
