Rappaport, Roy A., 1926-1997

Roy "Skip" Rappaport (1927-1997) was a professor at the University of Michigan from 1965 to 1997 and chairman of the Department of Anthropology from 1975 to 1980. He was particularly known for his ethnographic field work in New Guinea and his interest in relating anthropology to policy issues, particularly the social impact of oil well drilling and nuclear waste disposal.

Rappaport's papers include correspondence, writings, speeches and lectures, teaching and course materials, consulting work files related to environmental projects, and topical files.
