The Michigan Union is preparing for a major renovation beginning in May, 2018. The building will be closed until winter, 2020. Learn more about the project and view some of the concept drawings. The project will create state-of-the-art student organization and student involvement space, improve space for counseling and student support services and enhance meeting space near the Rogel Ballroom.
As your organization prepares to vacate the Michigan Union, now is the ideal time to consider transferring historic and inactive records to the archives. The Bentley Library is the archives for the University, holding historic records dating back to the founding of the University in 1817. By working with the archives you can preserve your organization’s contributions to campus life while ensuring that documentation is safely and securely stored and available to officers and members in the future.
On April 7 from 11:00am to 4:00pm, archivists from the Bentley Historical Library will be on-site at the Michigan Union to offer advice and to assist with archiving your organization’s history. Whether your group is celebrating its centennial or its one-year anniversary, we want to help you to ensure that your story gets preserved. If you’d like to get in touch with us before April 7th, please email us at UMRecords@umich.edu.
