About

Nancy Deromedi is an Associate Archivist within the University Archives and Records Program. Her particular area of expertise is the appraisal and archival preservation of records produced digitally. She is often contacted by university units for consultations on their new and legacy digital systems and individual files. In 1997-98, she lead the project to process, describe, and arrange an access system for the personal digital records of former University of Michigan President James D. Duderstadt. The resulting finding aid and interface for the records--which are accessible themselves online--are considered models for comparable projects at other university archives.

Nancy has also served as liaison between the Bentley Historical Library and the university's M-Pathways project, developing archival appraisal strategies and recommended information policy needs for this new university administrative system. She is active on campus, regularly providing guest lectures on the management of electronic records, for School of Information classes, and co-teaching with Nancy Bartlett a module for the School of Information archives practicum, on the appraisal of academic websites.
