Records of railroad companies (mainly Michigan lines) absorbed with the merger of the New York Central Railroad Company and the Pennsylvania Railroad Company into the Penn Central Transportation Company. Records of companies that were subsidiaries of the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad; also records of subsidiary companies of the New York Central Railroad, including the Michigan Central Railroad and the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railroad (as well as records of their subsidiaries); and records of the Ann Arbor Railroad Company, and of the Detroit, Toledo and Ironton Railroad.
