The Bentley Historical Library's Michigan Historical Collections (MHC) has extensive holdings related to religion in Michigan. This subject guide describes the MHC's records that originate from clergy and religious organizations.

This subject guide does not address the Bentley's large collection of religious publications. These include publications produced by churches and church organizations, such as annual meeting proceedings from regional governing bodies, church histories, directories and newsletters. The Bentley also has published biographies of individual clergy, pioneer and modern-day missionaries, and religiously based organizations. Published materials can be located using our catalog, MIRLYN.

It should also be noted that the collections of lay people can provide significant insight on religious practices. Lay collections are not described in this subject guide but can be located using the MIRLYN catalog and Finding Aids.

Details provided in this finding aid are based on collections' MIRLYNcatalog descriptions and Finding Aids.
