Bo Schembhler as Ohio sState Coach The rivalry between Michigan and Ohio State has been intense, but that has not prevented a few individuals from participating on both sides of the field as players or coaches.

(He was one of four Herrnsteins from Chillicothe, Ohio who have played for Michigan: William H., 1898-1899, William H. Jr., 1922-1925; and John, 1955-1958.)

George Little Top assistant to Fielding Yost, 1922-1923 and head football coach in 1924. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan in 1912, Little attended graduate school at Ohio and served as an assistant coach under John Wilce, 1913-1915. In 1925 he became head coach and athletic director at Wisconsin.

Bo also played for Woody Hayes at Miami of Ohio, 1949-1950.
Rick BayPlayed halfback and quarterback for Michigan, 1961-1964, but did not earn a letter. Better known as a Big Ten wrestling champion and All-American.

Steve Farrell Assistant football trainer/coach and track coach at Ohio State 1909-1912
Assistant football coach/trainer, 1915-1916, and head track coach at UM, 1913-1929
J.T. White Lettered in football at both schools and played on national championship teams at both. White, who grew up in River Rouge, MI, went south to Columbus for his freshman and sophomore years and won a national title under Paul Brown in 1942. After serving in the military 1943-1946, White enrolled at Michigan, winning letters in 1946 and 1947 and was the starting center for the 1947 national champions. White was an assistant coach at Michigan 1948-1953 before moving on to Penn State.
Howard Yerges Lettered at quarterback for both schools, OSU in 1943, U-M 1944-1947. As QB in the "Mad Magicians" backfield in 1947 Yerges led Michigan to an undefeated season, 49-0 win in the Rose Bowl, and a national chamionship. A Pleasantville, West Vrginia native, Yerges first enrolled at Ohio State where his father had played quarteback in 1916-1917. In 1944 Yerges entered military service and was assigned to Michigan as part of the Navy's V-12 program. He started two games in 1945 and five in 1946. He was granted an extra of eligibility for the 1947 season and started nine games as play-caller in Fritz Crisler's complicated single-wing offense.
Justin Boren A native of Pickerington OH near Columbus, Boren played at Michigan, 2006-2007, transferred to OSU, 2008-2009. His father Mike played linebacker for the Wolverines, 1980-1983.
Leo Cunningham Played at U-M 1939-1941, winning a varsity letter at tackle in 1941. After military service he won a varsity letter at OSU in 1943.
