Rick Volk

Rick Volk was one of the best all-around players ever to represent Michigan on the gridiron. The 6-3, 195-pound native of Wauseon, 0., a nephew of Bob Chappuis, All- American halfback of 1947, played offensive quarterback and halfback before becoming an All-American defensive back. A hard hitting and accurate tackler and a keen analyst of opposing plays, he was recognized as one of the truly great defensive players of his time. He was a "clutch player" who demonstrated this fine quality upon numerous occasions when Michigan needed him most. He graduated from the University in 1967, and later joined the Baltimore Colts to become one of the top young stars of the NFL in his first season. Rick was born in Toledo, 0hio, March 15,1947.
