Robert Allen Wahl

Tackle

Al Wahl

Robert Allen Wahl was named All-American tackle in 1949 by Grantland Rice and repeated in 1950. He played in the 1951 All-Star Game. Six-feet, three-inches tall, he weighed a lean 225 pounds. A former Army boxing champion, he was extremely quick and strong for a big man. He played as a 17-year old under wartime rules but injuries handicapped him. A year of Army service in Germany, during which he won a service boxing title with 14 knockouts, developed him physically. Wahl later became president of his own company dealing with farm equipment.
