Students at the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA), Class of 1915. Harry G. Gault was the president of LSA students in 1915, business manager of the Gargoyle college humor magazine, a member of the Eremites Club, the Cercle Francais French club and the Phi Delta Phi legal honor society. After graduating from the U-M Law School, Harry G. Gault went on to serve as a Lieutenant in the United States Army during World War I as well as a prominent attorney and civic leader in Genesse County, Mich. Alice Wiard Gault, the wife of Harry G. Gault was the Vice-President of the LSA students, the editor of the women’s issue of the Gargoyle, president of the Motar Board, and a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. After graduating from U-M, Alice Wiard Gault became an active civic leader in Genessee County serving on the boards of such organizations as the Urban League, United Service Organizations (USO), and the American Red Cross to name a few. The Harry G. Gault scrapbook sand loose materials contains a hand-drawn portrait of what appears to be Gault; photographs of the 1911-1912 freshman and sophomore games, the Eremites club, the 1912 CAP Night event, the Griffins and the Michigamua honor societies, the Sphinx Fraternity, and the Senior Swing Out exercises. His scrapbook also contains newspaper clippings; report cards; wartime correspondence; and obituaries. The Alice Wiard Gault scrapbook and loose materials include programs (including football programs); menus, ribbons; photographs of dances, women students, and sorority interiors. Her scrapbook also contains invitations; personal notes; place cards; and ticket stubs. Both scrapbooks contain dance cards, report cards, and newspaper clippings.
