Brooklyn-born, Walker entered Michigan from South Haven. A chunky, hard-charging lineman, he earned Big Ten honors his junior year before becoming an All-American. Although injuries hampered him in his earlier career, he played 55 minutes per game. After graduation he began playing professionally in Canada, enjoying a fine career.
