Stanfield Wells

End, 1910

Stanfiedl Wells

A great wingman,Wells was, strangely enough, Michigan's first forward passer of note. In a time when the pass was considered risky and unorthodox, he threw spectacular passes and then dove across the goal line to score the winning touchdown himself against Minnesota in 1910. "Wells is not only a first class end but a starting back as well," wrote Walter Camp in naming Wells to his all-American team.
