William D. Ward

Ward led Michigan into its first season in conference play, and the Wolverines emerged with a successful 2-1 record in the league. Like his predecessor, Ward had also graduated from Princeton and came out to Michigan after receiving his diploma in 1895. During the season, Ward's team allowed just eleven points and dropped only a 7-6 game to Chicago in the season finale in Chicago Coliseum.
