Rob Renes
Nose Tackle
A native of Holland Mich., nose tackle Rob Renes only the fourth Wolverine to gain first team All-America on both the field and in the classroom during the same season (Joining Bob Timberlake, Jim Mandich, and Stefan Humphries). Renes was selected GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America first team and was named to The Sporting News All-America first team as a senior. He finished his career with 11 tackles, 24 TFLs five sacks and recovered three fumbles. Renes was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten Conference selection, three-time Academic All-District IV honoree, two-time Dr. Arthur Robinson Scholar Athlete award winner and gained 1998 GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America second team honors. A co-captain his senior year, Renes was a semi-finalist for the Lombardi Award, earned all-Big Ten first team accolades and was Michigan's Big Ten Conference Medal winner. Renes was a seventh round draft choice of the Indianapolis Colts in the 2000 NFL draft.
