Typescript of a diary (Jan. 1, 1864-Aug. 23, 1865). Gross, of Algoma, Mich., enlisted in Company M, 6th Michigan Cavalry, in September, 1862. This diary contains brief entries about camp life and the weather until he was wounded in action at Wilderness, Va., May 6, 1864. The rest of the diary is about his life in hospitals around Washington and in Detroit.
