A diary (Feb.-Oct., 1864) kept while he was serving in the 2nd Michigan Infantry as captain and acting assistant inspector general. The brief entries tell of his duties and of the fighting in Virginia and before Petersburg. Hodskin was from Battle Creek, Mich.
