Michigan in the Civil War

Keeler, Dexter D., 1836-

One letter (Dec. 29, 1863) written from Strawberry Plains to his father. He tells of the destruction of his personal belongings; lists present rations after the failure of the Rebels to starve them out at Knoxville; describes his quarters in an old seminary; assures his father of his good health; and asks for news of draftees from Saginaw. Keeler, from East Saginaw, Mich., enlisted in Company B, 23rd Michigan Infantry, as sergeant, and rose to captain, 1862-1865.
