Mead, R. T. (Richard Titus), 1839-1900.
Mead, of Macedon Center, N. Y., was assistant surgeon, 79th New York Infantry, May 3, 1863-May 31, 1864, and later civil surgeon in the Grant General Hospital in New York. In 1865 he came to Adrian, Mich., and in 1871 moved to Manistee, Mich., where he remained as physician and surgeon until his death in 1900.
His seventeen Civil War letters give brief accounts of his movements, comments on the draft, the surrender of Petersburg and Richmond, the assassination of Lincoln, and his work in the hospital in New York.
