Michigan in the Civil War
Munger, Melvin.
One letter, August 1, 1864, written to his wife from McClelland Hospital, Newtown, Pa., in which he tells her he is getting better. He has been attending church services, and the letter is an expression of his religious thoughts--he was wild but is trying to mend his ways. Later he became a Methodist minister. He was a native of New York State, but eventually came to Michigan where he is buried in Freeland, Saginaw County. Munger served in Company L, 14th New York Heavy Artillery.
