Michigan in the Civil War

Parshall family.

This collection of papers collected by Pearl Parshall Terzia includes a typescript of a reminiscence, written between 1921 and 1931, by William A. Hill, born 1846, of Caldwell County, Mo. Hill briefly describes the early years of the war, in which his brothers served in Confederate Missouri units. He describes in more detail the period in which he served in Company E of the (Union) 6th Missouri Militia Cavalry and later the 13th Missouri Cavalry, Jan. 1864-May 1866. Hill's regiment served in Missouri in 1864, but spent much of 1865 and 1866 along the Platte River, escorting wagon trains west.
