Barrett, Hubbard H., 1835-1863.

Corporal then sergeant in Company B, Sixteenth Michigan Infantry, 1861-1863. Barrett was killed in action at Gettysburg, July 2, 1863. This collection contains two letters. The June 6, 1862 letter speaks of battles, but his regiment was held in reserve and not involved in action. The August 6, 1862, letter thanks his mother for a package received, tells her of being on the march for three weeks, and that he is sending money home. Barrett was a resident of Ionia County, Mich.
