Michigan in the Civil War
Rankin, David Carson, ?-1908.
Three letters (Aug.-Sept. 1862) written while he was in the 15th Regiment, Pennsylvania State Militia. The regiment was encamped on the road near Hagerstown when troops, cavalry, wounded, etc., came from the battlefield of Antietam (battle of Sept. 17, 1862). In October, 1862 Rankin enrolled as a student in the University of Michigan Medical School. He died in McClellandsville, Del., Sept. 1908.
