Michigan in the Civil War

Trembley, Oliver C., 1841-

Four letters written to members of his family (1862-1864), while he was serving in the 7th Ohio Infantry. From Camp Dennison he writes that a friend brought boxes of provisions--one barrel of eggs and sixty pounds of butter. They are drilling with old muskets and have no uniforms yet. About 12,000 troops are near them. He has been on guard duty, and will now enlist for three years. From a camp in Bridgeport (Jan. 1864) they are guarding a railroad. He asks for a box from home--boots, butter, dried fruit. Trembley was from Ripleyville, Huron County, Ohio.
