Watts, Richard A., 1838-
Reminiscences of the incarceration, trial, and execution of the alleged conspirators in the assassination of President Lincoln. At the time of the trial, Watts was acting assistant adjutant general. During the war, 1861-1865, he was in Company K, 1st Michigan Infantry, and the 17th Michigan Infantry. He was wounded in the first battle of Bull Run and before Petersburg. He rose from second lieutenant to captain, brevet captain, brevet major, brevet lieutenant colonel for distinguished service at the battle of Spotsylvania, before Petersburg, and at Fort Stedman. Watts was from Adrian, Mich.
