The papers of the Gideon O. Whittemore family of Tawas City, Mich., include a diary (Dec. 1863-June 1865) of Charles Harlow, a band member, apparently in Company D, 20th New York Cavalry. During the period of the diary his regiment was stationed near Norfolk, Va.
