This is a detailed record of his official service in the Civil War, repairing bridges and railroads, building blockhouses and fortifications, having skirmishes with the enemy, and taking part in the engagements of Bowling Green, Perryville, Stones River, and on the march with Sherman's army, 1861-1865. Yates was from Albion, Mich.
