Young was a Corunna, Mich., resident and soldier in Company I, 8th Michigan Infantry. The collection contains photocopies of letters (1861-1866) describing military life and campaigns in South Carolina and Georgia in 1861 and 1862, and Virginia and Maryland in 1862 and 1863, also description of conditions in military hospitals in Washington, D.C. in 1863.
