The papers of this Lenawee County, Mich., justice of the peace includes one letter (July 12, 1862) written by Darius C. Bradish from Harrison's Landing to his brother Calvin. He tells of Michigan casualties in the Battle of Malvern Hill and one letter (May 16, 1863) relating to his commission. Bradish enlisted in Company K, 1st Michigan Infantry, as sergeant, in 1861, was wounded in action at Bull Run, re-entered service in the same regiment, as second lieutenant, and was commissioned captain in 1862. He was wounded in action at Gettysburg and killed in the battle of the Wilderness.
