Ferrier, William, 1834-1913.

William Ferrier was a resident of Ypsilanti, Mich., who served in Company E, 17th Michigan Infantry, during the Civil War. He later lived in St. Johns, Mich. The collection contains a partial journal or reminiscence of his military service, from his enlistment, Aug. 8, 1862, to Sept. 1, 1863, including detailed descriptions at the Battles of South Mountain, Antietam, and Fredericksburg, and the period between, along with a brief description of the siege of Vicksburg. The journal ends as Ferrier leaves camp on a furlough. The collection also includes photocopies of Ferrier's service records, obituaries, and photographs of his tombstone.
