This diary gives very brief accounts of the daily activities of a second lieutenant in Company H, 8th Michigan Infantry. Only scattered entries are made from January through August, 1862. Brown was a resident of Ann Arbor, Mich., and died from wounds received in action at Chantilly, Va.
