Anderson was a private from Tecumseh, Michigan, in Company B, 2nd Michigan Infantry. Letters (May 7, 1862 and June 2, June 6, and July 12, 1864) describing his experiences with the 2nd Regiment near Richmond, Va., a letter (Aug. 2, 1864) from Simpson Rush(?) describing the circumstances of Anderson's death near Petersburg, Va., and a sketch of his grave.
