Chase, George Willey, 1840-
Diary (1862) part of which was written while Chase was serving in Company B, 4th Michigan Cavalry. It contains only brief notations of his unit's movements, primarily in Tennessee. Eighty-one letters (1862-1865), written to members of his family, tell of his experiences in the hospital in Louisville and as a member of the band in the Tennessee campaigns. The September 6,1863 letter relates how the members of the band serenaded the Rebels. Chase was from Owosso, Mich.
