Michigan in the Civil War
Curry, James L., 1825-
Six letters (Nov. 1862-June 1864) written while he was serving in the 21st Ohio Infantry. He tells of the regiment's part in the battle of Murfreesboro, the panic among some of the troops, and the wounded and dying in the hospital after the battle; of guarding a depot of supplies and a number of rebel deserters; of an officers' hospital in Chattanooga and a court martial room; and makes a brief comparison of Grant and Lee as generals. Curry became a merchant in Clio, Mich. after the war.
