The family of Jeremiah Boss of Fairfield Township, Lenawee County, Michigan,and his son James, who served in the Michigan Engineers and Mechanics Regiment. The collection contains two letters from James Boss (Feb. 26, 1863 and Apr. 26, 1863) and one letter (May 31, 1864) from Sergeant Eric Wells describing the death of James Boss. The collection also includes an undated text and a letter (Dec. 14, 1862) from Isaac O. Savage relating to the death of Lyman S. Arnold of Company I, 18th Michigan Infantry.
