They give details of life on the march towards Jackson, Miss., bivouacking in rain and snow or singing around the campfires, guard duty, foraging, burning bridges and a sawmill, and skirmishing. Woodbury, of Charlotte, Mich., was in Company I, 6th Michigan Infantry.
