Waterbury, John C., 1815-1894.

John C. Waterbury held many offices and public positions, mainly in Sanilac County, Michigan. His son-in-law Hannibal Nims served with Co. D, 10th Michigan Infantry; he was also detailed for recruiting service in Michigan. He died from wounds received at the battle of Jonesboro in 1864. The collection contains miscellaneous Civil War reports, communications, and lists related to Co. D, 10th Michigan Infantry and maintained by Captain Nims (1863-1865) along with scattered papers of John C. Waterbury, including the charter of the Lexington Council of the Union League of America.
