The papers of this Ann Arbor, Mich., newspaper publisher include Civil War letters from two of his sons:

Edward Corselius. Four letters (1862-1864) in which he writes of the battle of Gettysburg and the death of his brother Fred, praises General Kilpatrick, and speaks of General Custer. Corselius enlisted in Company A, 1st Michigan Cavalry, in 1861, and was quartermaster sergeant, Company F, 1864-1865.

Fred Corselius. Two letters (Feb. 14 and June 5, 1863) in which he mentions a four days' reconnaissance through fine farming country to Ashby's Gap and the possible cashiering of their colonel for drunkenness on the trip; home affairs; picket duty; a brush with Mosby's guerrillas. Corselius, who served in the 5th Michigan Cavalry, was killed in the battle of Gettysburg.
