Bigelow was a farmer in Coe Township, Isabella County, Mich. His papers contain one letter, March 20, 1864, from William Dover. Dover was in Company M, Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, Sept. 1863-Sept., 1865. The letter informs Bigelow about the death of his son, Olney Backus Bigelow, also of Company M, Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, on February 14, 1864. Olney was sixteen years of age when he enlisted in 1863.
