Edwards, Isaac Z., b. 1834

Photocopies of four letters (1863-1864) written to his sister Mary. They describe the burial services for soldiers and the condition of deserting rebel soldiers who come into camp. Edwards enlisted in Company A, 19th Michigan Infantry as first sergeant (1862); was wounded in March of 1863; became second lieutenant of Company D (1863) and first lieutenant (1864). He resigned because of disability in August 1864. Edwards was from Pokagon, Mich.
