The Bell family were residents of Ravenna, Mich. Their papers contain a letter (Oct. 27, 1864) from Jonathan Hallam, who served in the 107th Illinois Infantry Regiment, written at Cedar Bluff, Ala., and a letter (June 22,1865) from Thomas Hallam describing the death of his brother Jonathan, who was killed in Dec. 1864 at Franklin, Tenn.
