The papers of this Brighton, Mich., resident include five letters (1864-1865) written by Charles A. Kelley to his father about his duties and the movements of his regiment. Kelley enlisted in Company I, 9th Michigan Infantry, was provost marshal's clerk, adjutant's clerk, sergeant major and second lieutenant.
