The papers of this family from Montcalm County, Mich., include originals and photocopies of diaries of Elmer H. Noah, who served in Company E, 8th Michigan Infantry, and his brother Orange P. Noah, who served in Company H, 8th Michigan Infantry, and later in Company A, 1st U.S. Engineers. One diary and account book (1861-1863) was first kept by Elmer H. Noah, and later used by Orange P. Noah. The other diary (1864) was kept by Orange P. Noah.
