Parks was a soldier in the 111th Regiment, New York Infantry Volunteers, and later a resident of Pennfield Township, Calhoun County, Mich. The collection includes one diary (1865, original and transcript) describing his Civil War experiences, and two letters (Apr. 27 and 29, 1865) to his wife.
