Roseberry, Isaac, 1832-
Microfilm of a diary (Nov. 1861-Sept. 1865) kept while he was in Company D, Michigan Engineers and Mechanics. The short entries are concerned chiefly with the duties involved in getting out timber and building and repairing bridges, roads, railroads, forts, etc. Thirteen months were spent in Chattanooga where the Company ran a sawmill. After the fall of Atlanta, they were on the march with Sherman, both destroying and rebuilding. Roseberry was often afflicted with dysentery and bored with life in convalescent camps and hospitals. He mentioned skirmishes and battles, chiefly Wheeler's raids and the activities at Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain. There is almost a complete daily record of the weather. Roseberry was from Berlin, Ottawa County, Mich.
