Bellamy, Henry H., 1837-1862.

Two letters (1862) written to his parents while he was serving in Company E, Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, as artificer. He voices his hatred of war and describes the battlefield at Pittsburg Landing. Bellamy was from Easton Township, Ionia County, Mich. He died at Bear Creek, Ala., June 4, 1862.

The collection also includes one letter (Feb. 3, 1862) of Charles E. Henry written from Camp Michigan to Bellamy. Henry comments on the weather and the conduct of the war. Henry was in Company K, 3rd Michigan Infantry, wounded in action at Groveton, Va., in August, 1862, and discharged for disability in October, 1862. Henry was a resident of Kent County, Mich.
