Transfer to the University Archives

Units that have not previously transferred records to the Bentley Historical Library should contact the University Archives and Records Management Program to speak with an archivist or to request a records appraisal.

The 4-step process for transferring records to the Bentley is fairly straightforward and free of charge to the University of Michigan community. The process itself is dependent on whether you are transferring paper-based content (“physical”) or digital/digitized content (“digital”).

  1. Identify records for transfer.
  2. Prepare records for transfer.
  3. Complete transfer paperwork.
  4. Transfer materials to the archives.
